Age 85, passed away March 19, 2006. She was born on July
10, 1920 in Tapiola, Michigan the daughter of John and
Sophia (Tuovila) Nevala. Melba was a member of Our Savior
Apostolic Lutheran Church in Northville. She was preceded
by her husband, Walter Riutta daughter, Karen Miller
brothers, Eino, Emil and Elmer Nevala sisters, Ruth
Outinen, Hilja and Huldav Nevala and Edna Heikknen.
Surviving are a daughter, Dianne Smith of Portland;
grandson, Matt Smith of Portland; granddaughter, Erin
Smith of Lincoln Park; great granddaughter, Haleigh Smith
and great grandson, Sonny Schwochow.
