Portland – Mary Eloisa Serfes-Turton, 35, of South Portland and Bangor, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2013 at the Maine Medical Center, after a courageous battle with kidney disease. Mary was born on December 20, 1977, the daughter of Bertel and Carmen Serfes. She grew up in Portland; attending Portland school.
Mary was just recently married on December 12, 2012 to Joseph Turton. She enjoyed life, going out to eat, being with her friends, along with the occasional shopping trips; but the most important part of her life, was her family, especially her daughter Selena. Selena was the center of her world.
Due to her health issues, the doctors said that she would only live until she was thirty. But because of her faith in God and her strong will to live, she had an additional five years to experience what life had to offer. Throughout her life, Mary was always close to God and was not afraid of death. She just recently told her mother that she was looking forward to the time when she would be able to see him.
Mary was predeceased by a daughter Lilly, her grandparents Eloisa Donato and Fidel Robles; and Mary and Louis Serfes. She was also predeceased by her beloved uncle Benjamin Donato.
Mary is survived by her daughter Selena Serfes; her parents, Bertel and Carmen Serfes of South Portland; her sister, Miriam Serfes of South Portland and her brother, Bertel Serfes, Jr. of Windham.
