Mary Catherine Colson (Kate) passed away at her farm in Madison county Mississippi on February 27, 2021. Kate was a native of Mobile, Alabama and a long-term resident of Flora, Mississippi and a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Canton. She was a graduate of Bishop Toolen Highschool in Mobile, class of 1959, and later went on to obtain her bachelor’s degree in music from the University of Western Kentucky in 1966, with an emphasis in piano studies. Kate taught in several Catholic schools including St. Joseph School in Bowling Green, Kentucky, Little Flower Catholic School in Mobile and St. Joseph Catholic School in Jackson. An avid horsewoman her entire life, Kate established and owned an equestrian retail store in Jackson, known as Tackfully Yours. In addition to her love of horses, Kate was a founding member of the animal non-profit organization, Furry Friends, which was dedicated to the rescue of abused and neglected animals in the Jackson area. Kate and her husband, Scott, built a successful business, Iron Innovations, Inc. in Clinton, Mississippi, which is still in operation under his leadership. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd James Brazile, Sr. and Mary McGovern Brazile, siblings Floyd James Brazile, Donald E. Brazile, Betty Jo Brazile Butts and Barbara Ann Brazile Miller. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Scott Mackenzie Colson, Sr., daughter Kimberly Spottswood Robertson (Greg), her grandson, Gregory Kyle Robertson, sister Ellen Brazile McKinney, niece Brandon Leigh Best and countless other cherished family members and friends.
