Marvin Ellis Godbey, of St. Charles, Missouri, died on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at the age of 84 years and 11 months. He was born at Cherryville, Missouri to the late Herman and Mable Godbey. He was united in marriage on October 8, 1949 in Crawford County  to Zeldia Godbey (nee Chandler) and to this union two children were born.


He is survived by one son, Theodore E. (Karen) Godbey of Overland, MO; and one daughter, Dorothy L. (Craig) White of Newton,  KS; five grandchildren, Joshua Godbey, Samantha (Jeffrey) Abegg, Kenneth Godbey, Melissa Werner, and Jessica White;  great-grandchildren of two, Jeffrey Abegg II and Sophia Abegg; one brother, Rainey (Joan) Godbey of St. Charles, MO; brother in-law, Jessie Stricklin of Cherryville, MO; sister in-law, Sally Godbey of Manchester, MO;  many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.


He was preceded in death by his siblings, Loretta Godbey, Charlie Godbey and Betty Stricklin, and his nephew Larry Godbey.


Marvin proudly served his country in the U.S. Army where he was a Tank Gunner in the Korean War. He was a retired Chrysler Mechanic after 35 plus years of service.


The Family received friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.


Honored to be casket bearers were Ken Godbey, Joshua Godbey, Tom Hines, Chris Nordahl, Dayne Kilbreth and Eddie Stricklin.
