Marilyn Leora Barnes, nee Cook, of Steelville, MO passed away Sunday, January 29, 2012 at her daughter’s home in St. James at the age of 75. She was born August 27, 1936 in Gideon, MO to Orbra Frances Cook and Lora Ellen Hamilton Cook. On October 11, 1951 in Piggott, AR, she was united in marriage to J.W. Frances Barnes who preceded her in death in 1997.

Marilyn always enjoyed fishing, camping and playing Bingo.

She is survived by one son Jay W. Barnes and wife Pamela of Sullivan, MO; two daughters Belinda Halbert and husband Tom of Potosi, MO and Betty Chandler and husband Randy of St. James, MO; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; two sister-in-laws Zenzie Rulo of Popular Bluff, MO and Shirley Drake and husband John of Potosi, MO; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband J.W. Barnes; two brothers Melvin Eugene Hamilton and Donald Lee Cook; brother and sisters-in-law J.B. Barnes, Fannie Barnes, Gertrude Cunningham,  Addie Johnson and Alma Jewell..

The Family received friends from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Honored to be casket bearers were Matthew Dotson, Austin Halbert, Jay W. Barnes II, Katie Barnes, Amanda Chandler and Lee Halbert.
