Bath – Margaret Emily fletcher Margeson, 89, passed away October 9, 2017.  Born in Palmyra, February 29, 1928, she was the daughter of Henry A. and Effie R. Fletcher.

Margaret was the twelfth of twelve children and the last survivor of the twelve.  Her best friend and older sister, Mildred “Jonnie” Pease passed on September 15, 2017.  Margaret was a 1946 graduate of Newport High School.  She was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan.

Margaret moved to Rockland to live with her sister Mildred “Jonnie” Pease after high school.  After attending Farmington Normal School Margaret taught in a one-room schoolhouse for one year.  She was a Seafood Goddess at the Rockland Seafood festival in 1950 and there met her future husband Gerald Perry Margeson.

Margaret and Perry were married in Rockland in 1952.  When Perry became a Maine State Trooper, the couple moved to Farmingdale, Maine where they would go on to raise their two children, Bradford and Linda.  At that time Margaret devoted all her energy to the children’s well-being and education.  In 1969 Margaret joined Gardiner Savings Institution in Gardiner, Maine as a teller.  During her 20+ years of employment, she would rise through the ranks at the bank to Treasurer.   Upon retiring in 1993, her new occupation became devoted grandmother.  Her grandchildren have fond memories of beach walks, bottomless snacks, spicy V8 and endless hugs.

Margaret leaves behind her children, Gerald Bradford Margeson and his wife Deborah of Parker, Colorado and Linda Margeson Fairfield and her husband Allan Fairfield of Bath.  There are five grandchildren; Megan C. Margeson, Heather Fairfield Campbell (and her husband David Campbell), Spencer P. Margeson, Nathan B. Fairfield, and Caitlin M. Margeson.  Her husband, Perry passed away in 1987.  Margaret was pre-deceased by her three brothers, Ivan Sr., Joe, and Laurice; and eight sisters, Marion, Nina, Doris, Irene, Wyona, Ruth, Phyllis and “Jonnie”.

Our family would like to thank Neighbors, Inc., CHANS Hospice, Hillhouse and Horizons Living and Rehab for their wonderful care, companionship and compassion.
