Lorena (Ruth) Sorrell Wright of St. James, Mo. passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2017, at the age of 94 years, 1 month and 25 days of age.
She was born December 31, 1922 to William Burr and Alma (Diestelkamp) Sorrell in rural Phelps County, Mo.
Ruth and George Robert Wright were united in marriage on December 17, 1941, and they celebrated a little more than 50 years of marriage. Ruth enjoyed singing and listening to gospel music. She worked at the shoe factory, as a housekeeper, and later in life as a nurse’s aide in the Phelps County Hospital Long Term Care Unit and Presbyterian Manor. Ruth was a member of the St. James Church of Christ.
Ruth Wright is survived by her son; John Wright and wife Sara of St. James, Mo.; daughter: Nancy Lammert of St. Louis, Mo.; four grandchildren: Jessie Kirkbride and husband Wade of St. James, Mo., Sara Bates of Knoxville, TN.; Rusty Wright and his wife Natalie of Newton, KS. and Ely Wright and wife Tiffany of Springfield, Mo; and five great-grandchildren, Luke and Cole Shields, Benjamin Kirkbride, and Leah and Maverick Wright; and nephew: Larry Beckham and wife Debbie of Indiana.
Preceding Ruth Wright in death is her parents: William Burr and Alma (Diestelkamp) Sorrell; husband: George Robert Wright and an infant son, sister: Eda Mae Beckham on September 20, 2005; and brother-in-law: Loyd Lavern Beckham on October 6, 1974 and a sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Frieda and Leo Glenn.
