Loran “Bubba” Bosarge of Port Arthur, TX, passed away on July 28, 2022, at the age of 82. Born on January 11, 1940 in Pascagoula, MS, he attended Our Lady of Victories Catholic School in Pascagoula, MS, where he reigned as King Victor in 1956 for the school’s annual Carnival Ball. He graduated as Valedictorian from OLV in 1956 and from LSU in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science in Physics, sponsored the last two years at LSU by Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, MS. He moved to Nederland, TX, in 1983 after living in Beaumont, TX, Poughkeepsie, NY, Fort Walton Beach, FL, Silver Spring, MD, and Pascagoula, MS. He retired from IBM in 1995 after 30 years of service in marketing. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church in Nederland, TX, where he was active as a Eucharistic minister and lector. He was involved in Blended Families putting on workshops and individual counseling and was the first men’s director of the ACTS Retreat Program in Nederland, TX. He was a member of local gun clubs in Beaumont, Orange and Lumberton, TX. He loved skeet and trap shooting, dove hunting, fishing in Lake Sabine and dancing with his favorite partner, his wife Mary Ethelyn. He was preceded in death by his parents, Loran James Bosarge and Katherine Mary Stephens Bosarge, and maternal grandmother, Lillie Frederic Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years Mary Ethelyn, his children Mimi Bosarge of Pascagoula, MS, Charlotte Falkner (Dane) of Salt Lake City, UT, Chad Hebert (Liz), Christy Fargo (Ladd), and five grandchildren – Madeline Bosarge, Cooper Hebert, Austin, Sean, and McKenna Fargo. He is also survived by his brothers Steve Bosarge (Nancy) of Gulfport, Ozzie Bosarge of Gulfport, and sister Kathilee Slater (Jack) of Moss Point, and brother-in-law Raymond Allen of Castle Rock, CO.
