The Footsteps of the life of Lillie

Lillie Bell Gates was born April 25th 1933 to the parents of the late Robert and Della Gates in Batesville, TN.   Lillie was the first of seven children born to Mr. and Mrs. Gates. She was preceded in death by her father Robert and Mother Della; Brother; Robert V. Gates and Sister; Pearline Cox.                                

Lillie graduated from Manassas High School in Memphis, TN. She confessed Christ at an early age and attended Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Memphis, TN.  Later in her life she decided to relocate to Minneapolis, MN to be with her sister and brother.

Lillie met her husband Rufus Walton, who preceded her in death. Lillie worked at Abbott Northwestern Hospital for 42 years where she retired. She was a member of New Salem Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Earl Hines and later joined Antioch Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Earnestine Gates-Armstrong.  

Lillie loved a good time and being with her family and close friends, Bingo was a favorite past time for her and she loved to work her crossword and word search booklets.  She liked dressing up and wearing her hats and she loved the word of God as well as her gospel music.

Lillie  departed this life  on Sunday, afternoon April 19th 2015, at North Memorial Hospital in Crystal MN., She leaves behind to mourn two brothers; Robert Gates(Patsy) of Memphis, TN.; Eddie Gates(Princess) of Brooklyn Center, MN and one Sister; Earnestine Gates- Armstrong, of Minneapolis, MN . She also leaves to cherish her memory one Aunt; Gussie Buckner of Chicago ILL. And one sister-in law; Shirlee Gates of San Diego , CA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins great nieces and great nephews.  She will be missed dearly!
