Laila Anna Sophia (Anderson) Kennedy passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 11, 2007. She was born in Ionia Township on September 15, 1910, the daughter of Charles and Emily (Johnson) Anderson and lived her entire life at that home. She attended Ionia Public Schools. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Ionia and a member of the Women of the Moose. She enjoyed gardening and loved her special cats. She married Carrol H. Kennedy in Ionia on June 4, 1931. He preceded her in death in 1987 after 56 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Frances VanZee of Grand Rapids in 1991. She is survived by a daughter, Pat Gustafson of Ionia, and a son, Robert (Janet) Kennedy of Ionia. Six grandchildren, Dan Gustafson of Bozeman, Montana, Tom (Lisa Evans) Gustafson, Barbara (Kris) Haskins, Lynn (Bernie) Ardis, Mike (Melissa) Gustafson, all of Ionia and Wendy (Greg) Wehler, of Muskegon. She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson and several nieces and nephews.
