Obituary
Kim Lee Koonce nee Rittenberry passed away on October 16, 2018 at the age of 63. She was the beloved wife of Michael Koonce of Wentzville, Missouri; She is also survived by her mother, Barbara Rittenberry; two daughters, Roni Parks of South Haven, MS, Talia (Elliot) Tiedje of Chattanooga, TN; brother, Sam (Carol) Rittenberry of Old Monroe, MO; two sisters, Cynthia (James) Calahan of Shelbyville, TN, Lynn Rittenberry of Shelbyville, TN; grandson, Owen Anderson; granddaughter, Taylor Anderson. Kim loved her nieces to pieces, Penny, Cindy, Sami and nephew Buddy too! She is preceded in death by her father, William Lewis Rittenberry, first husband, Dennis Tiedje. Kim had a unique personality and her and Michael were actually married by the one and only Elvis! She was the center and glue of the family universe. She was an enthusiastic writer and had an exceptional green thumb. She was also a proud member of the UAW. She loved her family dearly and the following is expressed by her daughter. My mother taught me young that she was the “Center of the Universe”. I’d laugh and giggle. As a teenager, I kind of admired her audacity. It’s not that she stated this as a joke. She was serious, she believed, therefore it was a fact. As an adult, I’ve been closer to mother than ever before. I called her twice a week to share my successes and struggles. Like with a religion, I was putting my ups and downs to the Center of the Universe. Now as I sit watching her struggle in unfathomable ways the world seems wrong. It seems sad. There’s hate all over. I have countless loved ones experiencing sudden loss. I personally can’t catch a grip on anything…and then tonight I realize it is because the Center of the Universe is off-kilter. While she is struggling, my whole world is struggling. I know this sounds like the rambling of a crazy woman, but for me and those who love and know Momma…our universe needs to heal. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
