Scarborough – Kathy J. Carmichael, 57, of South Portland, passed away of pancreatic cancer on April 11, 2013 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House. She was born on October 28, 1955, the daughter of Merlin and Joanne (Ames) Carmichael. She grew up in South Portland, graduating from South Portland High School. After high school, she studied at North Shore Community College and later engineering design drafting at MIT. Kathy’s hobbies included knitting, rug making, cooking and she was an avid participant in the virtual Second Life community. She was a close supportive companion to her mother over the years. Kathy also enjoyed her cat Milo.
Kathy was predeceased by her father. She is survived by her mother, her brother Steven, her sister Jan (Franceschelli) and her sister Elizabeth (Clark). The family would like to thank all her caregivers at Mercy Hospital Oncology Center and the Gosnell House.
