Kathleen “Katy” Ann Blake, age 35, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 surrounded by her immediate family at Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula, MS.
Katy was born December 25, 1986 to the late William D. (Bill) Blake and Sara Ferrer Blake in Pascagoula, MS. As the youngest of seven children, Katy grew up accustomed to being the center of attention.
As amazing and as strong as Katy is, the struggles of living with a spinal cord injury are unrelenting and take their toll on the body. While we are deeply saddened by this loss, we rejoice in knowing that her body is healed completely, and she is no longer suffering. There are too many people to name all those that have helped, cared for, befriended, or were just a touchstone during these past several years. The love, generosity, and respect given to Katy and the entire family has been more than we could have ever imagined. We would like to give a special thanks to the MICU staff at Singing River Hospital, especially Dr. Michael Errico, for their care and compassion in tending to Katy’s needs over the past 3 weeks.
Katy is preceded in death by her father, William D. (Bill) Blake; her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jake Ferrer; her paternal grandparents Mr. and Mrs. William F. Blake; and her fur baby, Ziggy Stardust.
Katy is survived by her mother, Sara F. Blake; 6 siblings Karen (David) Gieger, Kevin (Sarah) Blake, Kelley (Munson) Hinman, Keith Blake, Kristen Blake, and Kenny Blake; a host of nephews and nieces, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
