Katherine M. Kay Zweig of Rolla, Missouri, formerly of Vichy, Missouri passed away in St. Louis, Missouri on Monday, June 7, 2010. She was 81 years, 2 months and 18 days of age.

Katherine Zweig was born on March 22, 1929 to her parents: George E. and Lena (Cordes) Smith in Red Bird, Missouri. Katherine was united in marriage to Clifford L. Zweig of North Dupo, Illinois on July 29, 1950 in Salem, Arkansas. To this union three children were born.

Katherine attended high school in St. James, Missouri, college at Southwest Missouri State and began teaching locally and later in the State of Kansas and Texas. After marriage she initially lived in Dupo, Illinois, moved to Greensboro, N.C., Bartlesville, Ok and Bedford, Tx before returning to the area and residing in Vichy, Mo. In the year of 2000 she moved to Rolla, Missouri where she resided until her death. She worked at the Missouri Veterans Home in St. James, Missouri for a number of years in addition to her primary role as a homemaker. Her interest including family, friends, reading, quilting, sewing, cooking, dancing and any form of travel whether near or far.

Katherine Zweig is survived by two sons: Kurt C. Zweig and wife Lynne of Plano, Texas; and Dr. Doug Zweig and wife Dee of Chesterfield, Missouri; one daughter: Vicki Gibbons and husband Jerry of Rolla, Missouri; two brothers: George J. Smith and wife Joyce of Rolla, Missouri and James Leroy Smith and wife Donna of St. James, Missouri; two sisters: Ella Mae Cowan of St. James, Missouri and Mildred Brown of Rolla, Missouri; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and and unlimited number of friends.

Preceding Katherine Zweig in death are her parents: George E. and Lena (Cordes) Smith; husband Clifford L. Zweig on July 25, 1997; two sisters: Berneice Zinn on April 28, 2008, and Nora Johnston.
