Karl Frederick Blackman passed away January 31, 2019, in Pontiac, Michigan. Born in the Bronx borough of New York City, NY, on February 4, 1943, he was the son of Saul Issac and Belle Edith (nee Korb) Blackman. The family moved to Detroit in 1955, when Karl was a teenager. Going through the Detroit Public Schools, he completed his education in Mumford High School. Moving briefly to California, he returned to Detroit and got married to Ilene (Hagopian) Blackman. The marriage was blessed with the birth of two sons, Jason and Sean. Karl worked as a salesman in many various fields, including oil and music records industries. His vast interest in music and jazz naturally led him to happy personal involvement with many famous entertainers in the international music recording scene. He also sold men’s clothing. His artistic talents expanded into great literature, as well. Shakespeare was uppermost in his literary interests. An avid reader of poetry, Karl was also noted for writing many serious poems with his exceptional penmanship.
