Karen Amelia Carlson, age 52, of Baudette died on Friday, June 1, 2007 at Lakewood Health Center.
Karen, daughter of Roger and Emma Grund, was born on December 2, 1954. She graduated from Baudette High School in 1972 and attended St. Scholastica College in Duluth for one year before moving to Minneapolis where she earned a medical technician’s degree from Northwest Institute. She worked in Minneapolis for several years before moving to Ohio, where she worked as a medical technician in Cincinnati and Oxford. She married Dale Tillery of Millville, Ohio and while there gave birth to her two children, Jason and Lindsay Tillery (of Baudette). She moved to Baudette in 1988 and married Dennis Carlson. She worked at Lakewood Health Center and at Ballard’s Resort.
Karen (“Karnie” as Jason nicknamed her) was an eternal optimist, even in dealing with cancer, and was devoted to Jason and Lindsay. She and Lindsay became extra best friends following Jason’s untimely death in 2004.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Emma Grund; her sister, JoAnne, and her son, Jason. She is survived by her daughter, Lindsay of Baudette and by brothers, David of Baudette and Vernon of Missoula, MT.
