Johnny Reese Horton, 55, was born on April 18, 1961 to the late Naomie Horton in Tippo, MS, on the Rabbit Ridge Plantation. Johnny was affectionately known as Bud Horton to his family and friends. Mr. Horton was battling lung cancer. Through faith, prayer and through the grace and mercy of God, Bud was cancer free for three years. However, on April 7, 2017 approximately 10:25 a.m. at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS, he departed this life.
“Bud” Horton lived in St. Louis, MO. for many years and was employed at J.D. Auto shop and Keneloch Construction CO. He left St. Louis, MO and relocated to Jackson, MS until his death. he was employed at his apartment complex as a grounds Keeper/utility maintenance person. Bud was a giver and loved his family and friends. He was always the kind of person who calls to check up on you, gives advice as well as mentor to other alcoholic and drug recovering addicts.
As we always keep his memories alive – He leaves to cherish his memories; a son: Brandon (Nisha) Tellis; a daughter: Marquita Tellis; three grandchildren: Jonathan, Joshua, and Gabriell Tellis; A very special friend of 10 years, Ms. Marsher Smith, whom was by his side as he departed this life. He also leaves three brothers: James Horton of Memphis, TN, Walter (Minnie) Horton of Water Valley, MS and Elijah Horton of St. Louis, MO; all of his nieces and nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends will all hold a special place in their hearts for him.
