John S. Osowski, 93, of Oslo, MN, went to be with his Lord early Wednesday morning, November 4, 2015.
John Sylvester was born in Oak Park Township, Marshall County, MN on December 28, 1921, the son of John and Helen (Mager) Osowski. He was raised in the Oslo area and attended Oak Park Country School. John served in the US Army during World War II and returned to the farm following his discharge. On June 27, 1950, John married Marie Blanche Campbell in Oakwood, ND. They made their home on a farm near Oslo where they raised five children and farmed for many years. They moved to the city of Oslo in 2007 and lived there until October of 2013 when John and Blanche moved to the Lutheran Sunset Home in Grafton, ND. Blanche died on December 24, 2013.
He was a member of the Oslo American Legion, Knights of Columbus and served on St. Joseph’s Church Council and the Oslo School Board.
John is survived by five children, Marlene (Pat) Flynn of Burnsville, MN, Karen Osowski and Dale (Cheri) Osowski, all of Oslo, MN, John “Jack” Osowski of Warren, MN and Earl Osowski of East Grand Forks, MN; grandchildren, Sara and Maria Flynn of Burnsville, MN, Bryan Flynn of Brooklyn Center, MN, Tami (Dan) Evavold of Manvel, ND, Holly (Brian) Gowan of Manvel, ND, Rebecca (Patrick) Rooney of Annandale, VA and Ashley (Troy) Solem of Oslo, MN; six great-grandchildren, Vivian and James Rooney, Kaizley and Moxin Solem and Caden and Callie Gowan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche; parents John and Helen; all of his siblings, Rose Kosmatka, Henry Osowski, Harry Osowski, Joseph Osowski, Theodore Osowski, Mary Rivard, Leo “Tony” Osowski, and Frank Osowski; and grandson-in-law, Joshua Gowan.
