John Kostrzewski, 87, of Stephen, MN, passed away on Thursday evening, February 19, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Center in Warren, MN.

John Kostrzewski was born on May 14, 1921 in Wanger Township, Marshall County, MN, the son of Theodore and Anna (Budziszewski) Kostrzewski. He was raised in the Florian, MN area where he attended school. On June 25, 1958, he married Anastasia Magdaline Gerszewski. They made their home on the family farm in Wanger Township. John was a dedicated farmer his whole life. He moved to the Good Samaritan Center in the summer of 2006.

He was a life long member of the church that he hauled bricks for during it’s construction, Assumption Catholic Church in Florian. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

John enjoyed playing with his grandchildren and watching boxing and baseball.

Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Anastasia Magdaline of Warren, MN; five children, Mary Sevigny of Grand Forks, ND, Veronica Kostrzewski of East Grand Forks, MN, Anthony Kostrzewski of Alvarado, MN, Linda (Daniel) Burkhart of Thompson, ND and Thomas (Michelle) Kostrzewski of Grand Forks, ND; sixteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Natalie Adolphson of Argyle, MN, Joan Pawlowski of Warren, MN and Audrey Frazier of Reedsport, OR and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Evald and Arnold and an infant son.
