John D. Reed of Troy, Missouri passed away on September 8, 2018 at his home. He was born November 25, 1945 in Champaign County, Illinois. He is survived by his wife Debra Reed of Troy, Mo; 2 sons, John Reed of Marion, IL. and Derek Smiley (Crystal) of Johnston City, IL.; 4 daughters, Lisa Theobald (Pete) of Standard, IL., Teresa Powell (Ty) of Lostant, IL., Amy Dalton (Jeff) of Ozark, IL. and Jennifer McKee (Charles) of Wentzville, Mo.; 3 sisters, Carolyn Renken (Larry) of Paxton, IL., Nita Schneider (Ron) of Rantoul, IL. and Evelyn Eppelheimer of Rantoul, IL.; 19 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many great friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Omer Reed, mother, Gladys Jamison Reed, sisters, Eula Mullvain and Wilma Unzicker, brothers, Dwayne Reed and Melvin Reed. John was employed by the coal mines for twenty years and was also employed by Walmart for twenty years. John loved his family very much and enjoyed cooking holiday meals for them. He also enjoyed riding his Harley, Cardinals baseball, playing cards and trips to the Gulf of Mexico. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends who knew and loved him.
