Obituary
Surrounded by loved ones, Joanne Maestas Durnbaugh went to be with the Lord on August 26, 2018 at Evelyn’s Hospice House in Creve Coeur, Missouri. She was born February 10, 1941 in Rolla, Missouri, the daughter of Francis Shields and Blanche Pauline Ayers. She married Robert Durnbaugh on May 22, 1999. A strong, capable, loving and multi-talented woman, she headed a household, managed a farm, and owned and operated a Shelter Insurance business in Florissant, Missouri for over twenty-five years. Her compassion for art and nature and her commitment to integrity and kindness inspired everyone. Her greatest love was her family. Nothing warmed her heart like seeing everyone together at holidays and reunions. She is survived by her four sons and daughters-in-laws, David Maestas and his wife Cheryl, Donald Maestas and his wife Brenda, Daniel Maestas and his wife Bobbi, Douglas Maestas and his wife Mernie; her step-son Lynn Durnbaugh and his wife Darci; her sister, Sandra Owens and brother, Richard Ayers; sister-in-law Opal Ayers, seventeen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Shields and Pauline, and her husband, Robert. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
