Joan Opal Ivery (Rokke) was born on March 19, 1917 in Warren, MN, the daughter of Anne Holen and Clifford Morton Ivery. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith. She attended grade school at Boxville Country School and graduated from Warren High School as Valedictorian of her class in 1934. Joan was united in marriage to Edwin Kermit Rokke in February of 1939.

They had four children, Ervin Jerome, Janice Marie, Lois Elaine, and Pamela Gail. They raised their children in Warren at the same residence of which Joan resided in until her death.

Joan was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and very active in Ladies Aid, Circle and held officer positions in both. She was a volunteer for the Day Activity Center, Women’s Auxillary, Church Quilters and Senior Citizen Meal Center.
Joan worked for Dr. Bro as a dental assistant for many years until his retirement. At this time she became Deputy to the Registrar of Deeds Office at the Marshall County Court House and continued to work there for 17 years until her retirement at 70 years of age.
