Joan “Jo” Gates (nee Wunderlich)
Passed away on June 27, 2020 at Boutwells Landing Care Center in Oak Park Heights, Minnesota, near Stillwater. Joan was born on March 2, 1928 in Winona County to Arthur and Mildred (Anderson) Wunderlich. She was raised on a farm in Cedar Valley in Winona County along with her two siblings. Joan graduated from Winona High School and immediately moved to the Cities working for Daytons and later many years at Honeywell.
Joan was formerly married to Gaylord Gates and raised their daughter, Julie.
After retirement, Jo kept busy volunteering at the school, the library, and researching geneology.
Jo is survived by her sister-in-law, Dorothy and nephews Mark (Gail) Schwanbeck and Gregory (Nancy) Schwanbeck, and nieces Jenni (Bruce) Bunke and Penny (Nate) Klinski and families.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Julie; her parents, and her two siblings.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Boutwells for their loving care the past approximately 18 months and Lakeview Hospice.
