Janet Marie (Hickok) Yeomans, 83, of Ionia, died Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at her home. Janet was born April 5, 1938, in Ionia, to the late Glenn and Esther (Dygert) Hickok.
She attended Ionia Public Schools, graduating in 1956, then attended Michigan State University.
Janet married Sanford Yeomans, her high school sweetheart, on March 7, 1959, and embarked on her lifelong mission as a devoted and loving wife and mother. Janet was a farm wife and homemaker, keeping the books for Yeomans Egg Farm as well as playing a vital role in all facets of their poultry operation. Janet eventually retired from a career with the State of Michigan as a caseworker in the Family Independent Agency.
Janet was proud of her many years in Girl Scouts; she was an accomplished seamstress, including all kinds of needlework – making many special clothes and gifts for friends and family. The family garden was beautiful and bountiful; her family enjoyed the fruits of her labor year-round.
Janet collected friends wherever she went, and she was loved by all. Family and friends meant everything to her.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Bill Hickok, and her in-laws, Edwin and Elizabeth Yeomans. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Sanford, children, Gregg and Gale (Ludwick) Yeomans and Brenda and Bob Dufresne. Janet is also survived by her sister, Ardith Marino, grandchildren, Dan and Elina (Mukherjee) Yeomans, Amanda Dufresne, and great-granddaughters, Ashtyn and Emberly, as well as special niece, Beth (Yeomans) Thomas, along with many other nieces, nephews and cousins.
