James “Larry” Thurman of Carol Stream, Illinois, formerly of Steelville, Missouri passed away Thursday, June 30, 2016 at the age of 58 years, 5 months and 9 days. He was born January 22, 1958 in St. Louis, Missouri to Arthur Earl Thurman and Mary Kehner Thurman. On July 8, 1978 in Steelville, Missouri at the Assembly of God Church, he and Sharon Wisdom were united in marriage and to this union two children were born.
Larry graduated from Steelville High School in 1976 and received his undergraduate degree from UMR/MO S&T in 1980. After college, he became employed with AT&T/Lucent Technologies. During that time, he received his master’s degree from Purdue in 1982. Larry retired from Lucent in 2013. He enjoyed fishing, reading, music and working on his computer. He was a member of the Motorcycle Gold Wing Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Mary Thurman; father and mother-in-law, Cleatis and Clara Wisdom; and brother-in-law, Larry Wisdom; and sister-in-law, Donna Missey.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of thirty-eight years, Sharon Thurman of Carol Stream, IL; one son, Matthew Thurman and wife Trisha of Toronto, Canada; one daughter, Heather Thurman and fiance` Matt Dondlinger of Earlville, IL; one sister, Joyce Messick and husband Milt of Marengo, IL; niece, Julie Camel and husband Roscoe; nephew, Steve Messick; brothers-in-law, Denzel Wisdom and Frank Missey both of Steelville, MO; and two grandchildren, Isabella Mae and Zayvier James.
The Family received friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
