James Elliott Brock
of Gaithersburg, MD passed away peacefully on August 20, 2013. James Elliott Brock was born on March 6, 1931 in Carrsville, VA. He grew up on a farm in rural southern Virginia. In 1952, he was stationed in California for military service in the United States Army where he served until 1954. In 1954, Jim attended Indiana Institute of Technology located in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, majoring in engineering and graduating in 1958. After graduation, Jim worked for Weyerhaeuser Company which specialized in timber products. He was methodical and meticulous in nature which served him well in his profession as an engineer.
In 1966, Jim accepted a job with Timber Engineering Company (TECO) in Chevy Chase, MD. He moved to Maryland with his wife and five young children and settled in the Twinbrook area of Rockville. Jim retired from TECO and worked part-time for several more years before retiring permanently. In retirement, Jim and his current wife took time to do some traveling and cruising abroad.
