Jackie Ray LaPrade was born on July 8, 1958, the youngest child of Ray and Emma. He grew up in New Albany, Mississippi, with two older sisters, Belinda and Ann, and was a graduate of W.P. Daniel High School. He was a great lover of art, poetry, and music, driving his sisters crazy on more than a few occasions playing the drums.
He was a long-time employee of Piper Industries in New Albany where he was well-known as a dedicated and hard worker. He was always someone that could be counted on when there was a job to be done and a helping-hand was needed.
Jackie had a passion for food and cooking and could often be found in the kitchen adding his own unique spin to his favorite recipes. Later in his life he enjoyed creating things in his wood shop and took great joy in giving these items to others.
Jackie was a son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend to many. He lit up a room with his electric personality, and much in line with his love of music, always marched to the beat of his own drum.
Jackie was preceded in death by his father, Rural Ray LaPrade, and his older sister, Martha Ann LaPrade Starr. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Roma Emmalene McCraw Miller and Samuel Miller of Ripley, MS, and his stepmother, Janelle LaPrade Bird of Kenansville, FL. He also leaves behind one sister, Belinda (Bill) Morgan of Tupelo, MS, and two step-sisters, Sandra (Jim) Smith of New Albany, MS, and Lori Mitchell of Starkville, MS.
Jackie had two sons, Jason (Fleur) LaPrade of Melbourne, Australia, Christopher (Lauren) LaPrade of Pearl, MS, and one daughter, Jacqueline (Jeremy) Sanders of Fort Drum, NY, as well as five grandchildren: Cheyenne, Isabell, Avanna, Kaylee and Xander. He will be greatly missed by his companion, Kathy Grubbs Cimon, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.
