Jack Ronald Carlson, age 82 of Virginia, died Wednesday, January 27, 2010 in the Virginia Regional Medical Center. He was born April 27, 1927 in Nichols Township, MN the son of Edward and Bessie (Erickson) Carlson. Jack served in the US Army during WWII in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater of Operations. He married Kathryn Miletich on July 10, 1948 in Virginia and was a lifelong resident. Jack was employed as a heavy equipment operator for Jones & Laughlin Steel Co. retiring in 1976. He was an Amateur Radio Operator and a member of the Model Airplane Club in Virginia. He was a bird lover, and enjoyed fishing, cutting wood, and was a part-time hockey player and coach.
Jack is survived by his wife of 61 years, Kathryn; children: Michael (Karen) Carlson of St. Cloud, Susan (Tom) Marks of Eveleth, Jeffery Carlson of Muskegon, MI, Jack (Deborah) Carlson of Eagan, and Steve Carlson of Islip, NY; grandchildren: Aaron, Mark, Lauren, Kristopher, and Melissa Carlson; great-grandchildren: Jillian, Colby, and Cullen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings: Lloyd, George, & David Carlson and Florence Neari.
