John D’Arcy Cox, 83 of Cambridge, passed away at the Chesapeake Woods Center in Cambridge on Thursday December 18, 2008. He was born in Cambridge on January 13, 1925.
He attended schools in Cambridge. During WW II he served in the US Navy in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters notably aboard the tanker USS Maumee. Mr. Cox had worked as a welder at the Cambridge Wire Cloth Co. for 31 years, and retired in 1979. After he retired from the Wire Cloth Co. he worked as a Security Guard at Coldwater Seafood from 1979 until 1989. On December 28, 1946 he was married to the former Pearl Jones. She passed away on February 15, 2006. Mr. Cox was a member of Choptank Memorial Post # 7460 V.F.W. as well as Dorchester Post # 91 American Legion. He had been a resident at the Chesapeake Woods Center in Cambridge since January.
Survivors include daughter Judy C. Creighton and her husband Barry F. Creighton of Virginia Beach, three grandchildren, Geoffrey S. Creighton and his wife Jennifer S. Creighton, Scott M. Creighton and his wife Katie L. Creighton and Laura E. Creighton, two great grandchildren, Noah Scott Creighton and Ethan Andrew Creighton, one brother Donald H. Cox and his wife Etta Cox of East New Market, two nieces and one nephew.
