Ione Copp, 87, of Grand Forks, ND, formerly of Warren, MN, passed away on Wednesday evening, July 1, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Center in Warren, MN.

Ione Evelyn Oberg was born December 24, 1921 in Warren, MN, the daughter of Walter and Minnie (Stark) Oberg. She graduated from Warren High School in 1939. Ione and Harold Copp were married in Angus MN on June 12, 1942. They made their home in rural Warren where they farmed. Harold died on June 29, 1966. Ione worked at the Warren High School for several years until she went to nurses training in Wahpeton, ND. After her schooling, she worked at Deaconess Clinic and Grand Forks Clinic. In the mid 1970’s, Ione moved to Grand Forks. After she retired from the clinic, she worked at JoAnn’s Fabrics, All Seasons Floral, Valley Memorial Nursing Home and as a home health nurse.

Ione was very active in many community activities including 4-H (member and leader), Eastern Star, birthday club, homemakers and her church and it’s circle. She truly loved having her grandchildren and great-grandchildren around her. Ione also took a very memorable trip to the Holy Land.

She had many hobbies including sewing, crocheting, quilting, making peanut brittle and lefse and playing cribbage. Ione was also a “competitive” card player.

She is survived by her daughters, Mynette (Perry) Kolnes of Fargo, ND and Mary (Dan) Skalsky of Kalispell, MT; son, John (Deb) Copp of Warren; sisters, Eileen Filipi of East Grand Forks, MN, Gloria (Franklin) Zak of Grand Forks, ND and Carol Crow, Topeka, KS, 11 grandchildren, 19 great- grandchildren.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Harold Luverne Copp; son, William (Billy) Harold Copp; parents, Walter and Minnie (Stark) Oberg; brothers, Harold Oberg, Richard Oberg, Glenn Oberg and Elton Oberg and sister, Idola Knutson.
