Houghton McCobb Trott, 95, born January 1st, 1921, died peacefully on April 28, 2016. Houghty was raised in Providence, RI and Phippsburg, ME. He served in the Navy, worked in the lumber business, and for over 30 years worked in the ski industry as an instructor and Ski School Supervisor in both Sun Valley, ID and Aspen, CO. He was married to Patricia Pierce Saviers, an architect, for over half a century. Together they made annual treks between Maine and Colorado with their beloved border collies in tow. After leaving the ski industry, Pat and Houghty moved to Maine permanently. They biked, boated, and enjoyed multigenerational friendships in Phippsburg.
Houghty loved good conversation and was always curious about others. He loved his dogs, his projects in the barn, and his Wall Street Journal. He laughed easily until the last moments.
Houghty is survived by his step-daughter, Georgia Saviers, and other relatives. His sparkling eyes, sharp intellect, and strength of character will be missed by his family and his loving friends.
