Helen Miska, 101, of Madison, WI, formerly of Warren, MN, passed away under hospice care in St. Mary’s Care Center, Madison.
Helen Margaret Palchak was born on April 4, 1914, in Angus, MN, to Albert and Mary (Mamrak) Palchak. Helen grew up on the family farm and was united in marriage to Henry Miska on November 9, 1938, in Holy Trinity Catholic Church, in Tabor, MN.
The couple made their home on the farm in Angus, where Helen raised their four children and was a hard-working farm wife. In 1972, they moved into Warren. Henry passed away on November 3, 1988. To be nearer to family, Helen moved to St. Paul, MN in 2004 and then moved to Madison, WI in 2010.
Helen volunteered at the Warren Senior Center for many years where she led the sung grace before meals. She will be remembered for her humor, resourcefulness, and kindness. She was a loving mother and grandmother, an excellent cook and baker, and a superb homemaker.
Helen is survived by her children, David (Carol) Miska of Estero, FL, Kenneth (Claudia) Miska of Middleton, WI, Patricia (Allen) Erickson of Eagan, MN, and Conrad (Shirley) of Eagan, MN; eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Henry, Helen was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Elmer Palchak, Steve Palchak, Mary Taus Larson, and Agnes Kuzel.
