Halic “Whitey” Devoll Chandler, 87, of Arnold, Missouri passed away Thursday, September 8, 2011 at his home. He was born January 29, 1924 at Huzzah, Missouri to Halic B. Chandler and Plura Goldie Huitt Chandler. On May 22, 1946 in St. Louis, MO, he was united in marriage to Mary Belle Worley and to this union two children were born.

“Whitey” served his country honorably during WWII in the U.S. Navy. He was a truck mechanic for thirty-four years at Middle West Freightway in St. Louis.

He attended Peoples Church in Arnold, MO. “Whitey” enjoyed tinkering on old cars, fishing and hunting and going to “Mac” Donalds.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of sixty-five years, Mary Chandler; two sons, Larry Chandler and wife Joanne of Desoto, MO and Lennie Chandler and wife Heather of Arnold, MO; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Chandler of St. Louis, MO, Ardell Evans and husband Ellis of Steelville, MO and Ruby Lowery and husband Jim of Arnold, MO; brother-in-law, Joe Worley and wife Linda of Hillsboro, MO; eight grandchildren, Tammy Cardona and husband Ty, Wendy Boxdorfer and husband Chad, Todd Chandler and wife Annette, Terry Chandler and wife Angie, Jennifer Koeln and husband Matt, Amanda Boyd and husband Matt, Colter Chandler and Levi Chandler; twenty great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bobby and infant Billy Chandler; one sister, Virginia and husband Carl Frey; two brothers-in-law, Cleatis Worley and Homer Worley; and two sisters-in-law, Argie Volner and husband Zerola and Rose Hammonds and husband Norman.

The Family received friends from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
