Greta Wierschke, the daughter of Sylvia (Arnesen) and Karl Didriksen, was born on June 11, 1929 at Brooklyn, New York. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brooklyn. She grew up in the Bayridge neighborhood and attended Bayridge Girls High School and Lutheran Bible Institute in Teaneck, New Jersey. After her schooling she worked at Chemical Bank as a teller and at the Hanover Bank as a stock-bookkeeper in the financial district in Manhattan. She met Kenneth when she was traveling with a friend whose fiance happened to be Kenneth’s brother, Russell Wierschke. Kenneth and Greta where married on April 10, 1965.
They lived in the Badger area and Greta worked as farm wife and mother. She also worked as a teacher’s aide for the elementary grades at the Badger School from 1974 to 1984. She and Kenneth attended the Roselund Lutheran Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher and on the ladies aide. She was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening, singing, cooking and baking. She will be remembered for her strong faith.
Greta passed away on July 21, 2001 at the Greenbush Community Nursing Home at the age of 77 years.
Greta is survived by three sons, Allan (Leah) Wierschke of Blackduck, MN, Mark (Lisa) of Felton, MN and Kent of Badger; and four grandchildren, Brittany, Kristin, Brianna and Matthew.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Kenneth in 2004, and her brother, Jack.
