Mrs. Freda Joy Vassar-Johnson, age 66, of Detroit, Michigan passed away Wednesday night, January 26, 2022 at Ascension St. John Hospital. She was born December 9th 1955 in Chicago, Illinois. Freda was the second daughter of Fred and Ida Vassar. Freda graduated from Covert High School in June 1973. Freda proceeded to attend Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan, majoring in nursing. Later Freda became a professional dog groomer until the birth of her son, Frederick. Freda was a loving mother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be missed and remembered. Freda is survived by her son, Frederick Vassar-Johnson; sister Linda Boggs-Briggs, brother-in-law, William Briggs; nephew, Preston Boggs, niece-in-law, Lawren Briana Ware-Boggs; aunt, Bernice Martin and many cousins and friends. Freda was preceded in death by her husband, Alloway Johnson; her parents, Fred & Ida Vassar; sister, Brenda Vassar and brother-in-law Preston Boggs Sr.
