Frank Edward “Ted” Barner of St. James passed away Saturday, August 29, 2015 at the Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla. He was 77 years, 3 months and 25 days of age.

“Ted” as he was known by his friends and family, was born May 4th 1938 in Denver, Colorado the son of the late Edward Frank and Dorothy Rose Sullivan Barner.

On December 27, 1958 at the St. James Christian Church, Ted was united in marriage to Dorothy Lacy, she survives at the family home.

Ted Barner is survived by his wife Dorothy of 56 years, son; Kevin and his wife Denise of St. James, daughter: Lisa Burbank and husband Michael of O’Fallon, brother: Don Barner of Coeur D’Lane Idaho and sisters: Barbara Wilcox of Grand Rapids, Colorado and Connie Bobal of Morrison, Colorado.  Along with three special grandchildren: Andrea, Ashley and Christy and great-grandchildren; Sidney and Jaxon.

Ted was given the name Teddy by his sister when he came home from the hospital and he remained Teddy until he went to school and then called Ted. His father worked for the United States Geological Survey when Ted was growing up. His family traveled to many states and overseas before moving to Rolla and then moved to St. James. He met the love of his life, Dorothy Lacy and they remained married for 56 years.  Ted worked for his father-in-law Bob Lacy as a butcher at the H & L (Hoffmeister and Lacy) Grocery Store in St. James and later at the IGA Grocery Store. Ted and Dorothy had their own meat shop for 20 years.  He also owned Big T Restaurant in Steelville, Mo. for 3 years 1980 – 1983; along with being  Assistant Manager for Golden Corral in Rolla, Mo for 3 years and the Rolla Meat and Covent Mall on Highway 63 in Rolla, Mo.

Ted Barner will lie in state Wednesday September 2, 2015 from 11:00 a.m.
