Floyd “Monk” Carruthers was born on November 1, 1921 to the late Jack Carruthers and Della Pegues in Oxford, Mississippi.
He joined Flint Hill M.B. Church in Oxford, MS at an early age where he remained a faithful member until his heavenly transition on April 13, 2017 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in New Albany, MS.
He was united in holy matrimony to Mattie Rodgers. She preceded him in death. Later, he married Betty Payton. She also preceded him in death on March 6, 2006.
Left to cherish his memories are his daughter: Colles “Elaine” Judon; his son: James Clinton “JC” Carruthers (Barbara Anne); a granddaughter he raised as his own: Courtney Judon; his step-children: Larry Payton of Oxford, MS, Virginia Rutherford (J.W.), Mary Harris (Willie) all of Blue Mountain, MS, Vera Bibbs (Terrance) of Waynesboro, PA, Denise Peairs (Ernie) of Memphis, TN, five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, thirteen great-great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews. Also left to cherish his memories are his god-children: Shirley Cook, Alecko Cook and Uconnory Cook, Special friends: Comer Judon, Sr, Henry Cook, John Blackwell, James “Roach” Cockrell, Lorene Smith and Leroy Harris.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother: Gary Carruthers, and granddaughter: Barbara Judon.
