Florence LeDuc, of Lisbon, ME, was born to the late Everett Lane, Sr. and late Rowena Foster Lane of New Gloucester, ME on February 4, 1948. Florence was their middle child, surrounded and loved by surviving brothers Hubert Lane of Canyon Lake, TX, Frank Lane of Gray, ME, Paul Lane of Auburn, ME, and Everett Lane Jr. of New Gloucester, ME, surviving sisters Marilyn Lovely of Tucson, AZ, Carolyn Rue of Dale, IN, Loretta Kuhn of Tyler, TX, and Darlene Farnum of East Sebago, ME, and her dear surviving cousin, Debbie Hersom of Ringgold, GA.
Florence grew up in New Gloucester, ME within a devout Christian family. She, like her mother, had a deep appreciation for education and lifelong learning. She graduated from Gray-New Gloucester High School in 1966 and moved on to Elim Bible Institute in 1969. She later received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Southern Maine, her Master of Science degree from Wheelock College, and continued on at McIntosh College. Florence enjoyed teaching and being involved in the community and in her church. She loved music and was an excellent pianist. She gladly played the piano, organ, or accordion at any opportunity she had.
Florence married the love of her life, the late Edward LeDuc of Pittsfield, NH, on December 31, 1980. In 1999, Edward tragically passed away too soon. But Florence was a strong woman with deep faith, and she carried on with their two sons, Jason LeDuc of Lisbon Falls, ME, and Benjamin LeDuc of Sutton, NH, who later married Hillary LeDuc of Sutton, NH. Over the years, Florence’s family grew to include her six grandchildren, Clara, Levi, Eliza, Kennedy, Miles, and Julianna LeDuc. It is often said that nothing is stronger than a mother’s love for their child, but those who knew Florence knew that her love for her grandchildren was equally strong.
Sadly, on February 9, 2022, Florence LeDuc lost her battle with cancer and passed away in Portland, ME. She was 74 years old. At 11:00 a.m.
