New Gloucester-Evelyn Leavitt, 85, a longtime resident of New Gloucester died peacefully at home with her family by her side.
Evelyn was born May 17, 1929 in Lisbon Falls, daughter of Walter and Edna Wallace Rideout. Evelyn was the third born of 10 children. She graduated Livermore Falls High School in 1948.
She married the former Earl Dunphy who died in 1985. Hey had five children together After devoting time to raising her children alone she married the former Tallman Leavitt. After her marriage ended she went to work at Pineland Center for many years until her retirement.
Evelyn is survived by her four children; Sharon Gosselin of New Gloucester, Dorothy Bazinet and her husband Maurice of Turner, a son Bruce Dunphy of Auburn and a son William Dunphy Sr. and his partner Kimberly Dioninsio of New Gloucester as well as six grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by two Sisters Jean Cox and Velda Rideout, two brothers; Gerald and Kenneth Rideout and sister-in law Priscilla Rideout. Everlyn is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by infant son and two infant brothers and a sister Fannie Maschiono, Sister Marion Twist and Brother Dawn Rideout. She will be sadly missed by family and friends.
