Evelyn Toftner, 98, of McIntosh, MN, formerly of Thief River Falls, MN and Warren, MN, passed away on Sunday, March 28, 2010 at McIntosh Senior Living in McIntosh.
Evelyn Anderson was born on January 28, 1912 in Warren, the daughter of Christ and Ida Anderson. She was confirmed in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church where she was a lifelong member. In her youth, she was a Charter member of the McCrea 4-H Club, and after finishing school, she worked for several years at Shriners Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis. On September 25, 1934, she married Orville Toftner. Evelyn and Orville spent the majority of their life in Warren until moving to St. Peter, MN, where Orville worked for the State of Minnesota as a Stationary Engineer. They returned to Warren where they spent their retirement years. Orville died on April 4, 1999. After Orville’s death, Evelyn moved to Thief River Falls where she spent her remaining years.
Left to mourn her passing are children, Ione (Lawrence) LaValle of Blaine, MN, Lee Toftner of Minneapolis, MN and Elaine Deyo of Branson, MO; sixteen grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Orville Toftner; son, Richard Toftner; parents, Christ and Ida Anderson; five sisters and six brothers.
