Ervin Moen, 82, of Alvarado, MN, passed away on Friday, Sept. 4, 2009 at his home under the care of hospice.

Ervin Lindy Moen was born on June 28, 1927, the son of Thorvald and Vernice (Routley) Moen in rural East Grand Forks, MN. He was raised in rural East Grand Forks and Alvarado where he attended country school. On Nov. 28, 1951, he was united in marriage to Connie Swanson in Warren, MN. They lived in Virginia for two years while Ervin was in the Army before moving back to Alvarado. Ervin farmed with his father and brother, Ardell.

He was an active member of the Alvarado American Legion (presenting colors at programs and ceremonies), New Hope Lutheran Church (chairman of the building committee), school board member for twelve years and supported children through the Christian Children’s Fund. Ervin enjoyed bowling and played on leagues in Warren and Grand Forks.

Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Connie; children, Allen (Lori) Moen of Minneapolis, MN, Rick (Jill) Moen of San Clemente, CA, Dawn (Donny) Jenkins of East Grand Forks, MN, Todd Moen of Bloomington, MN, Steven (Janet) Moen of Alvarado, MN, Kari Jo Moen of Grand Forks, ND and Kristy Moen of Manchester, NH; daughter-in-law, Alice Moen of Magalang, Philippines; seventeen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Cherry Ann (Bob) Iverson of Alvarado, MN, Bonnie Glass of Brandon, SD and Ruth Moen of Alvarado, MN; brother-in-law, Van (Dede) Swanson of Thief River Falls, MN and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Dana; brother, Ardell; brother-in-law, Pete Glass; nephew, Lee Glass; great-nephew, Christopher Iverson and great-niece, Ashley Yanish.
