He was born on July 15, 1934 in Haz Zabbar, Malta to Frances and Anne Azzopardi. He and his family survived WW2 and in October of 1950 they Departed Malta and resided in Detroit, Michigan, (Corktown). In 1956 married his bride Maria Gatt (Windsor, Canada) of 56 years and raised their five children. Ephrem was the cherished husband of the late Maria. Beloved father of Kathryn Anne (Gregory) Prew, JoAnne (Mark), Terri (Andrew) Allendorf, Patricia (Michael) Angelini and James (Michele). Proud Nanu/grandpa of Rebekah, Todd (Rosalinda), Chad, Christopher, Matthew, Justin, Tyler, Andrew, Nicholas, Patrick, Victoria, Jordan, Marco, BreAnna and great grandpa of Amadea, Takoda and Jack. Dearest brother of Sirol (the late Shelia), Sam (the late Phyllis), Larry (Maria) and the late Stella (Thomas) Summers. Also survived by many other loving family and friends. Ed was blessed with a creative heart that allowed him to express his gift in turning a piece of wood into a treasure. His ethics provided a career at GM Fisher Body in Detroit as a ‘Wood Model Maker’ for 37 years. However, his greatest pleasure was carving wood blanks into spirals. He also made forms for cement spirals, and ultimately, his dream was to see his spirals ascending up to heaven. Ed loved his five children, fourteen grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. He was always there with unconditional love and support; we will all miss him dearly.
