Emma Lee Tompkins passed away at her home on Thursday, November 3, 2022 at the age of 93.
Emma was born in Marengo County, AL to Otis and Emma Cooper on February 6,1929, it would remain her stomping ground for most of her childhood. Throughout her life there were characteristics that were evident and formed who she was. Strength, determined, adventurous, creative, talented just to name name a few. She was an incredible seamstress, leather worker, potter, farmer, cook and canner. She enjoyed a challenge and conquering them. Later in life she married Lowell Tompkins and they retired to Hurley, MS where together they built their home and farmed the land. They loved to travel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lowell Tompkins and a son, David Wayne Garner.
She is survived by her daughter, Anne Spence (Greg Fox) of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Jennifer Overstreet (Frankie) of Fairhope, AL, Benjie Spence of Birmingham, AL, Jeffrey Spence (Liz) of Daphne, AL; great-grandchildren, Spence Overstreet, Tyler Overstreet, Reagan Spence, Sam Hessport, Douglas Cooper, and Finn Spence and one great-great-grandchild, Silas Bear Overstreet.
