Portland – Ellen P. McKenney, 66, passed away peacefully eleven years after being diagnosed with a terminal illness surrounded by her family at Saint Joseph’s Rehabilitation and Residence on April 17, 2013. Ellen’s courage and character amazed anyone who had the opportunity to meet her.
Ellen was born on July 24, 1946 in Washington DC. She was raised in Portland , the eldest child of John and Catherine Lee’s nine children. Ellen attended Portland schools and worked in early childhood development at East End Children’s Workshop for over 28 years until her illness forced her to retire.
