Ella Maruska, 96, of Warren, MN, passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at North Valley Health Center in Warren.

Ella Lydia Ross was born on March 14, 1914 in Lowell Township, Polk County, Minnesota, the daughter of Ferdinand and Minnie (Wentzel) Ross. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Fisher, MN. She graduated from Fisher High School in 1932. Ella attended Webber’s Beauty School in Grand Forks, ND was a beautician at Christine’s Beauty Shop in Crookston until her marriage. Ella married Ervin Maruska of Angus, MN on September 14, 1938 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Crookston. They made their home in Tabor Township and farmed the home place. In 1967, they moved to Minneapolis, MN where Ervin was employed by the Minneapolis Housing Authority and Ella was employed at Loretta’s Tea Room. They retired in 1977 and moved to Warren. Ervin died on May 18, 2001. She moved to the Good Samaritan Center in May of 2002.

She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church where she was involved with the Ladies Aid, taught Sunday School for eleven years and was a charter member of the Zion L.W.M.L. where she served as zone president in 1948. Ella was also a member of the Tabor Homemakers Club, served as a volunteer for Senior Meals in Warren for fifteen years and was a 4-H Leader.

Family members include her daughter, Judy and husband Tom Yutrzenka of Argyle, MN; son, Gerald and wife Sandra Maruska of Warren, MN; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and sister, Doris Reitmeier of Crookston, MN.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers and eight sisters.
