Elder Berlie Gene Turnbough of Steelville, MO passed away Monday, July 22, 2013 at Gibbs Care Center at the age of 77 years, 8 months and 28 days. He was born October 25, 1935 in Rolla, MO to Delmar Arbie Turnbough and Muriel Agnes Willhite Turnbough. On July 25, 1954 in Courtois, MO, he was united in marriage to Elsie Laramore and to this union three children were born.


Elder Turnbough worked in St. Louis for several years as a Journeyman Plumber and was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union # 562 and retired in 1994. He became ordained in 1977 and was the pastor of the United Baptist Church in Steelville from 1977 until 2011.  He enjoyed being in the quiet outdoors and loving to laugh. He loved his children and grandchildren very much.


He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of almost 59 years, Elsie Turnbough of Steelville, MO; his children, Neva Hill and husband Mike of O’Fallon, MO,  Rodney Turnbough and wife Lisa of Columbia, MD and Ivy Reeves and husband John of Steelville, MO; one sister, Betty Anderson and husband Thomas of St. Johnsbury, VT; sisters in-law, Erma Jackson and husband Bill of Black, MO and Betty Volner of Springfield, MO; brother in-law, Tommy Laramore and wife Karen of Rolla, MO; eight grandchildren, Matthew Turnbough and wife Jaime, Mark Turnbough and wife Jen, Holly Shoults and husband Jeff, Jessica Reeves, Samantha Reeves, Jennifer Reidler and husband Brian, Bobbi Halbert and husband Clancy and Jonathan Hill; nine great-grandchildren, William, Dominick, Madison, Henry, Jacob, Benjamin, Audrey, Nolen and Elle; other relatives and friends.


He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Beverly Hadley and husband Clyde; and brother in-law, Buell Volner.


The Family received friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
