Edith Hermine Love, nee Remke, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at her home at the age of 96 years, 6 months and 18 days.  She was born November 16, 1916 in Chicago, IL to Erick and Minnie Peth Remke. On September 14, 1942 in Chicago, IL, she was united in marriage to James Francis Love who preceded her in death in 1995.


Edith worked along side her husband in their business as the bookkeeper at the B & B Locksmith in Chicago for over thirty years. While living in Chicago, Edith and her husband enjoyed ballroom dancing. In 1993, they moved to Steelville to be closer to their family.


She loved caring for the stray dogs and cats who wondered in her yard.  She was even known to feed the raccoons and opossoms who ventured on her deck. Edith always loved to read and watch NASCAR in her spare time. She also was artistically talented and enjoyed painting outdoor scenery and florals.


She is survived by three nephews, Alan Vickers and wife Jeannie of Sullivan, MO, Skip Love of TN and John Knapik of FL; two nieces, Susan Dwyer and husband Dennis of NM and Sharon Simpson and husband Bob of TX; one niece in-law, Linda Vickers of Sullivan, MO; and dear friends, Art Koosman and  wife Pat of Chicago, IL.


She was preceded in death by her parents: her husband James Love; sister, Maxine Urquhart and husband Don; nephews Bill Vickers and wife Betty Vickers Mohesky and Terry Vickers; and niece in-law, Terry Love.


The Family received friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
