Earl Shane, 94, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2003 at the Riverview Nursing Home in Crookston, Minnesota.

Earl was born on January 29, 1909 in Oak Park Township, Marshall County, MN, the son of Henry & Cassie (Sheppard) Shane. He attended rural school in Turtle River Township, Grand Forks County, ND and graduated from East Grand Forks Central High School in 1930. In 1939, Earl made his home on the family farm in Turtle River Township. He married Donna Marie Haugen in 1939 in Grand Forks, ND. In 1949, Earl and family purchased a farm in Oak Park Township. He married Beda Lind in 1962 in Alvarado, MN. Earl retired from farming in 1975. He lived at the Tufte Manor in Grand Forks from 1993 until 2000 when he moved to the Riverview Nursing Home.

He was Baptized and Confirmed at the Bigwoods Lutheran Church and he was an active member of the church.

Earl served on the Boards of the Oslo Elevator and Oak Park Township and was a member of the God Sam Motorhome Club, Lions and Eagles #350.

He spent many enjoyable years with his friends camping and traveling with the “God Sam Club.” Earl also enjoyed woodworking, fishing and dancing.

Earl is survived by daughter, Ila Mae (Ted) Kozel of East Grand Forks, MN and three sons; DelRoy (Marlene) of Brooklyn Park, MN, Dale (Karen) of Mackay, ID and Allen of Grand Forks, ND. Also surviving are thirteen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, sister, Edna (Clfford) Nelson of East Grand Forks, MN and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, Donna and Beda, sister, Anna (Art) Ferry and brother, H.
