Earl Fitzsimmons passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2004 at the Good Samaritan Center in Warren, MN at the age of 87.
Earl James Fitzsimmons was born on July 17, 1916 in Crookston, MN, the son of James and Kathryn (Knockles) Fitzsimmons. He attended school in Crookston. Earl was in the US Army during WW II from 1942 – 1945 where he was a heavy machine gunner in the Central and Western Pacific Theatre. He married Viola Cota in Dorothy, MN in 1948. Earl worked as a mechanic for Farm Supply, American Crystal, construction work and the Minnesota Department of Transportation. They made their home in Warren. Viola died in 1967. He married Stella Donarski in 1974 in Warren. They lived in Warren, Aurora and Crookston before returning to Warren in 2001.
He was a proud member of the American Legion where he was a past Commander. Earl also was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Eagles, VFW and the Moose Club.
Earl enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, playing cards and baseball.
Left to mourn his passing are his wife, Stella and children; Kathy (Truman) Jackson of Bemidji, MN; Patty (John) Hostar of East Grand Forks, MN; Rolland (Brenda) Pokrzywinski and Annette (David) Maurstad all of Warren, MN; Monica Mock of Gilbert, MN; Louise Stadum of Erhard, MN and Linda Pokrzywinski of Aurora, MN. Also surviving are four grandchildren, thirteen step grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Viola and brother, John Frances Fitzsimmons.
