Dorothy Olson, 79, of Alvarado, MN, passed away early Wednesday morning, April 22, 2009 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND with her family by her side.
Dorothy Jane Hanson was born on March 22, 1930 in Alvarado, MN, the daughter of Ralph and Clara (Larson) Hanson. She was raised on the family farm and attended country school and graduated from Alvarado High School. Dorothy attended nurses training at St. Luke’s Hospital in Fargo, ND before graduating as a registered nurse from Deaconess Hospital in Grand Forks. On October 28, 1949, she was united in marriage to Dale Olson at Elim Lutheran Church, rural Alvarado. They made their home in Alvarado. Dorothy worked at the Warren Hospital as the charge nurse on the night shift for several years and was known for her compassion and her ability to comfort her patients.
She was a member of the New Hope Lutheran Church and the Alvarado American Legion Auxiliary.
Dorothy loved her family and sharing her creativity with her grandchildren.
